Thermal Transfer

Barcode and Variable information labels can be produced using both Direct Thermal printing and Thermal Transfer printing. Direct thermal relies on a coating over the papers surface that is heat sensitive - available in three levels:

• Basic Thermal - Short term where no protective coating is over the labels surface (suitable for dry applications and quick disposal times)
• Prime Thermal - Medium term where a wax protective layer is over the labels surface (suitable for low moisture areas and up 30-60 days life span - our highest seller)
• Synthetic Thermal - Long term, wax coated synthetic labels (suitable for 3 - 6 Months high moisture areas, long term displays)

Thermal Transfer labels rely on a wax or resin ribbon which is heat transferred onto the labels surface - the print may be protected by overlaminating after the print is complete to allow for a very long term label. For UV applications we only recommend black pigments in this process.

Print capabilities are 300DPI (dots per inch) in both processes and black only in Direct Thermal and a range of colours are available in Thermal Transfer - Black being the most popular onto a White Background.

Print substrates used are Papers, Synthetics and Vinyls in Matt and Gloss with Overlaminate capabilities.

We typically produce both small and large runs and variety of texts ranging from fine to large fonts and images depending on customer requirements. Barcodes, simple logos, consecutive serial numbering, ladder barcoding for tracking and many other typical industrial or manufacturing applications.
